Airtel Money prepares London IPO with potential $8 billion to $9 billion valuation
A closely watched London listing
On 23 September 2026, Airtel Money said it plans to file for an initial public offering in London. Reuters reported that the transaction could raise about $800 million and give the mobile-payments business a market capitalisation of between $8 billion and $9 billion. The company expects to disclose an indicative price range in early October and final pricing in mid-October.
A mobile-money platform across 13 African markets
Airtel Money operates across 13 sub-Saharan African markets. Its services include cash deposits and withdrawals, bill payments and money transfers. The business reported about 53 million monthly active users in the quarter ended 30 June 2026. Airtel Africa owns about 78% of Airtel Money and plans to remain a long-term investor after the listing.
What investors should watch
The proposed transaction is expected to be a secondary offering of existing shares. It is therefore not necessarily new capital for the company. The final number of shares, price range and valuation remain subject to the filing and market conditions. A successful listing could nevertheless increase international visibility for African fintech businesses.
