Nigeria-founded Yellow Card expands stablecoin infrastructure into Canada

Expansion into North America

On 24 September 2026, Nigeria-founded Yellow Card announced its expansion into Canada. The fintech provides stablecoin infrastructure for banks, fintech companies and multinational businesses. Its services support access to digital dollars, treasury management and cross-border money transfers.

Alkepay provides the local entry point

The Canadian launch is being delivered through Alkepay, a wholly owned Yellow Card subsidiary. Alkepay offers foreign-exchange dealing and international funds-transfer services to clients. Yellow Card says its network supports more than 50 currencies and that it already works with companies including Visa and Western Union.

From African roots to global infrastructure

Yellow Card recently closed a $40 million strategic funding round to support international expansion. After building its roots across Africa, the company is also developing a presence in Latin America and Southeast Asia. The Canadian launch shows how African fintechs are increasingly exporting payment infrastructure and compliance capabilities beyond the continent.
